Bringing Smiles to Children Fighting Illnesses: A Community of Care Begins with a Slurpee® Drink
As part of its commitment to meet the everyday needs of our neighbors in support of their overall health, 7-Eleven has long supported Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals)—a partnership founded on the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential.
In the summer of 2024, a familiar tradition took on new meaning. This is the story behind the cup and how a signature frozen drink can help make a difference.
A 30-Year Partnership, Changing Lives Together

CMN Hospitals is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds and awareness for children's hospitals across the U.S. 7-Eleven, Inc. has been a longtime supporter of CMN Hospitals since 1991, raising critical fund for healthcare through efforts like in-store fundraising campaigns and the Annual Miracle Tournament.
"It is by supporting pediatric healthcare that we can truly invest in youth health and shape the future of our communities." says Natalie Harris, Senior Manager of Social Impact & 7–Eleven Cares Foundation, 7–Eleven, Inc. "At 7–Eleven, Inc., we've raised more than $200 million for CMN Hospitals over the years through in-store fundraising, customer, vendor and supplier contributions."
A Small Cup That Sparked a Circle of Support and Smiles
Every summer, on July 11, 7-Eleven celebrates its birthday with its iconic frozen drink —on Slurpee Day—when stores across the U.S. give away free small Slurpee drinks.. In 2024, this familiar tradition came with an extra special twist.
To celebrate Slurpee Day, 7-Eleven teamed up with CMN Hospitals National Champion, Nolan, to create a special Slurpee drink—decorated with illustrations featuring his friends in bright colors with their favorite Slurpee drink flavors. Everyone in the design is holding a Slurpee drink: some are sitting on chairs, while others are in wheelchairs.

It's a cup that captures the joy of people from all walks of life enjoying a simple treat in their own way. Nolan was just seven years old at the time and is a childhood cancer survivor.
He overcame retinoblastoma with the help of CMN Hospitals, who supported him throughout his journey. The cup not only helped raise awareness of CMN Hospital's mission but also inspired many to donate.

More Than Just a Drink

But according to Natalie, Nolan's cup became more than a fundraising tool — it became a symbol of hope for children and families facing illness.
"One of my colleagues shared that her grandchild had been diagnosed with the same type of cancer as Nolan. After learning Nolan's story, she told me, 'I feel like I can believe in a positive future for my grandchild now.' That moment was incredibly powerful and meaningful. It reminded me that the services we provide can have a positive impact on kid's health and in our communities."

Slurpee drinks have been loved by both children and adults for many years. Now, Slurpee drinks are becoming a catalyst for changing someone's tomorrow and continues to grow as a unique part of our culture. The faces of those holding a Slurpee drink always have a smile.
